This two-part, platinum-catalyzed silicone elastomer is purpose-built for potting and encapsulating sensitive electronic assemblies where clarity, low stress, and long-term reliability are critical. Its addition-cure chemistry ensures no corrosive by-products are released during vulcanization, making it inherently safe for copper traces, solder joints, and delicate wire bonds found in LED modules, sensor nodes, and communication devices.
The uncured system features a low mixed viscosity of approximately 1,500–3,000 mPa·s, which allows it to flow effortlessly around complex PCB architectures, fill narrow gaps under surface-mount components, and self-level to a flat, bubble-free surface. A workable pot life of 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature gives production operators enough time to fill multi-cavity housings or vacuum-degas the mixture for high-reliability applications. Curing proceeds smoothly at ambient temperature, reaching handling strength in 4–6 hours and full physical properties within 24 hours. Heat acceleration (e.g., 60–80°C) can reduce cycle time to under an hour for automated lines.
Once cured, the silicone forms a crystal-clear, soft elastomer with a Shore A hardness of 20–30. It exhibits a dielectric strength of ≥20 kV/mm and a volume resistivity of 1×10¹⁵ Ω·cm, providing outstanding electrical insulation that remains stable across a wide temperature range of -50°C to 200°C. The low modulus effectively absorbs mechanical shock and vibration, protecting sensitive components from thermal expansion mismatch and external impact.
This optically clear compound is ideal for applications requiring visual inspection of encapsulated circuits, such as LED luminaires, display backplanes, and industrial sensors with status indicators. It provides superior moisture resistance and maintains flexibility indefinitely without hardening or yellowing, even under prolonged UV exposure. As a platinum cure system, it meets UL 94 HB flammability standards and can be supplied with optional UV tracer for quality control in high-speed dispensing lines. For manufacturers seeking a reliable, inspection-friendly, and easy-to-process potting solution, this addition cure silicone ensures long-term protection and product longevity.
